I am now a homeowner. Yes, I am aware that that sounds like Homosexual, and yes, it is actually very funny.
Our internet was finally switched on on Monday, so that makes us officially 100% moved in.
The move itself was unremarkable, in the end, which is so funny as I was dreading it for all of the weeks leading up to it.
The great thing about doing it yourself is that you can be as rubbish at packing or preparing as you want and no one minds. For instance, we have a temporary cupboard thing, in which you just hang shirts and the like on these hangers on wheels. The more prepared and organised person would have packed the clothes, dismantled the make shift cupboard and popped them in the van. We, threw a sheet over the lot of it and carried it into the truck, sweet.
I am now a wizard with a drill, something that compliments my ever increasing collection of grey hair. I have been putting up things all over the house and it is now officially the lap of luxury. From shelves to air conditioner covers to pictures, no job to big or small.
I am just awaiting the inevitable call from MTV Cribs.
I saw Star Trek in the IMAX at the weekend. If you have yet to have the IMAX experience, a warning. It is VERY loud. So loud that at some points I was worried that France might come to the door and ask us to turn it down, whilst Wales and Scotland are banging on the wall/floor.
The screen itself is massive, I mean really big. It is so big you could show a film with John Travolta and fit all of his face on it, and some of his body.
The film itself was very good. Whilst I concede it does contain a few Star Wars prequel style coincidences, and a dodgy Scottish accent, it is still very good. My only sadness was seeing the crew as a whole on the bridge at the end.
Whilst I am not a Trekkie and my Star Trek knowledge is poor, I still have a great love for Shatner, Nimoy & Kelly. Their screen relationship was always a joy to watch. The timing of Shatner is something unique. Just watch Wrath of Khan and see how good Shatner really could be. It is sad that his proposed cameo didn't happen, good to see old Spock, though why he was hanging around in an ice cave when he knew there was a warm place, safe from space lobsters, just a short walk away, is anyone's guess.
I thought the baddie was weak. Eric Bana apparantly filmed his role in 1 day. It kind of showed. He didn't have much to say and only had a short punch up, but then again, the focus was supposed to be on the good guys for this one, quite rightly.
I am sure these new guys will evolve such a great rapour, and there certainly are signs of this. Looking forward to Star Trek 2 : The Wrath of Khan 2.
*Bonus news, I recently did some music for a friend of mine's awesome documentary about the Biba fashion house. Well, I now have a credit on IMDB, check it out mother fucker!!
