| Hello all. Sorry for my long absence. I have been finding myself. I was just behind the couch. Oh the humanity.
In actual fact my wife and I have been looking for houses and trying to become grown ups. So far it is going rather well. We found a nice house and hope to move ahead with being old. I have followed the rest of the herd too, which is depressing. First there was My Space, which I still know very little about, but joined anyway. Then there was Facebook, which is fine, I think I understand that one. It is like email, but you can look at pictures that someone has put on and then proceeds to tell you about their thoughts or their day. Like "Alan was thinking isn't it funny that horses have eyes." I was once trying to justify Facebook to a doubter. I suggested that it was good for me to keep in touch with friends who lived further afield. When that friend reminded me about email, well, I don't mind telling you I felt stupid. The truth is that the Internet is a young man's game. I was there at the start yes, when you needed an hour to download a meg and "going on the net" meant you were probably a fisherman, but these days, there is always something popping up to terrify me. Whether it be music, fashion or television presenters getting younger. Whilst this is all very well and good, it does nothing but serve to make me more determined to build that wall around myself, like some bizarre Helms Deep against the modern world of "culture". I live in fear, as for every Fleet Foxes album, there is a pair of trousers that don't fit someone and show their arse. Well, I have ventured out and entered into another world I don't understand. I have joined Twitter. Yes, That's right, I have joined a website community that I don't understand. If anyone is interested in following me, I am roaming under the name, Rainman1977. I feel like a technological version of Mole from Wind in the Willows, coming out of the borough, squinting, blinded by the light, hoping that things will become clear. But no hope for me. I am over 30, married and well and truly out of most demographics of any note, save for DIY adverts and clock radios. I now appreciate how my parents felt about Skateboards. I am however, in my capacity as an elderly gentlemen, enjoying our new Sky + HD box. I have been taping films that I would usually have no interest in, just to see them in HD. The Bond films (the 10 that are on there) are fantastic. As I write this Sean Connery is disguised as a Japanese fisherman with a big hat on. He may as well be ginger. I must also say how much I am still enjoying that wonderful Fleet Foxes album, a total work of art. I will update you all, kind readers, about how my Twittering is going.
