It never fails to amaze me that in this country, when snow falls very occasionally, everything grinds to a halt. The trains stop moving and the buses stay in the depot.
As I write this, I have just returned from the train station, there are no trains, they are not even selling tickets, so sure are they that there will be no trains for a while. Even my walk to the station took longer, it is only usually 10 minutes, but today I was like Bambi on ice.
My brother in law is from Buffalo in the U.S. He showed us a video of Christmas in Buffalo. There was snow feet deep, not inches, and everything was normal, he even showed me a video of the airport, with snow plows clearing the runway. Can you imagine that happening here? We cant even get a fucking train running! Not to say that he is annoyed about our lack of snow dealing, he is off work too today as he also relies on a train.
The funniest part is that even the network rail website is down, how is that affected??
It does make me wonder how we fought in two world wars in the past. I suppose we were made of stronger stuff then. Mind you, there was that time that we had to abandon the Battle of Britain because of snow, the German's understood, but they did laugh at us.
So, home I will stay, like a few others at my work.
A quick mention has to go the Fleet Foxes, I am really loving their work!

| I agree with this blogger. All this fuss about snow is a joke. I did get a day off work out of it though, so the country's decline into shitness is not without it's positives. Comment By: Tom Simpson, 06 Feb 2009, Rating: 4/5 |
