Or, Changes afoot.

Happy new year everyone! Let's hope that 2009 is a good one, though recent world events would suggest that it will be much the same as any other what with one place bombing another.

I have started 2009 on a high as I have just watched "Demons", ITV's answer to the question, "Will someone ever make a really, really shit Hellboy/Buffy rip off?"

Phillip Glenister proves that he really cant do an American accent (well, not without sounding like a dick) and Mackenzie Crook once again proves that the only decent thing he will be associated with is The Office. I could not even begin to explain the plot of this pile of shit, so I asked Wikipedia :

The plot follows the adventures of London teenager Luke Rutherford who learns that he is the last descendant of the Van Helsing line by the sudden arrival of his American godfather Rupert Galvin. Luke is charged with the role of smiting the gathering dark forces of the world whilst trying to live an ordinary life of exams and parties. Rupert Galvin helps train Luke with the assistance of Mina Harker, a blind concert pianist and authority on half-lives (such as vampires, demons, zombies, and werewolves). Luke's best friend Ruby also joins in on the action.

Luke's first adversary is a dangerous vampire bounty hunter called Gladiolas Thrip. Thrip hates the Van Helsings and is determined to end the family line

Mackenzie Crook plays Gladiolas Thrip. He looks like a cross between a teddy boy and a budgie. He is about as menacing as a sausage and gets acted off the screen by a chair at one point. He is accompanied by a tall Jimmy Hill like demon with a massive chin and a hat, who, is about as menacing as Mackenzie Crook. You also have Hoodies with dogs faces and a really badly rendered CGI thing with teeth.

This really is 100% unfettered, unashamed shite and I for one was ashamed of my TV for showing it to me.

The only highlight was that my old friend Chris Jarman turned up at the beginning as a security guard speaking extra. He was both the best and the scariest thing in it.

Well done ITV, another winner.

Whilst on the subject of ITV. I have just sat through (with the sound off as I write this) "ALL STAR FAMILY FORTUNES." Which, is about as ALL STAR as everything else that carries that claim. Now hold on, I hear you say. If it is ALL STAR, there must be stars in it. Brad Pitt? Micheal Jackson? No, sorry. How about Edwina Currie and Mark Durden-Smith (Yes, I know, who!?) As I speak, Durden-Smith is re-enacting his drunken wedding dance with his wife and just attempted a front caterpillar and landed on his face, to the delight of the thousands in the audience watching. Why would you go and watch this shit???
Oh good, Vernon Kay has just used his shit-eating grin again, now he is on the floor dancing. Vernon Kay, Cunt? Or is it me? God help us all if it is me.

On a side note. I would like to say thank you to everyone who visited Hobo-Bonobo in 2008 and made it such a cool year for us. Thanks to everyone who bought merchandise, subscribed to our videos, added comments to our blogs, reviews and such. It was a great year for us and we will be adding more in 2009. Sorry we have been so lazy. I would like to say we have been busy, but we haven't.

There are changes afoot. Ted's Newsdesk will be no more than an archive very soon, with this blog taking over and there are rumours of a Hobo-Bonobo pod-cast in 2009. So, watch this space. or don't, I don't care.

I think Mr Glenister, may have got his accent from watching too many of my films. He'd obviously get to the end of Casablanca & then "Play It Again"

Got to agree Phillip Glenister's American accent will go down in history alongside Dick Van Dyke's attempt at being a cockney, or Patsy Kensit trying to be South African. It was truly awful & I for one hope it gets better (it can't get any worse)
