As the comments above clearly state. There were no plot holes. A clunky plot yes, but they were not holes. I suggest actually paying attention to the film you are reviewing and we might all take you a little more seriously as a reviewer.

I preferred it to True Lies.
Comment By: Contoversial Craig, 15 Feb 2010, Rating: 4/5

That is true. Most other blockbusters are theme park rides, and certainly will be from now on with this new 3D fad. But how many of them are from written, directed and edited by one of the great film makers of the 1980's? Dissapointing. This also means from now on, every film he makes will have "from the director of Avatar and Titanic" on the poster. Two financially sucessful films, but ultimately well below average. It is as if T & T2, True Lies and Aliens never existed. Never mind Piranha 2.
Comment By: Ted, 15 Feb 2010, Rating: 5/5

I agree the scene is designed to create emotion/empathy towards the aliens, after all they just had their home destroyed. I don't agree that they're trying to use 9/11 to do so. Also, it's no more of a theme park ride than any other big budget blockbuster.
Comment By: Jim C, 15 Feb 2010, Rating: 0/5

I disagree. I also think it's a bit harsh to single this film out as a glorified theme park ride. All big-budget blockbusters or action films are guilty of the same thing.
Comment By: Jim C, 15 Feb 2010, Rating: 0/5

It was a ploy, admittedly a very clumsy one, to evoke an instant sense of empathy from the audience towards the Na'vi. It was certainly the first thing that came to my mind with all the similar imagary being clunked into place by Cameron and his clunkometer that he utilized heavily in this glorified theme park ride.
Comment By: Ted, 15 Feb 2010, Rating: 5/5

So a tree got blown up, there was smoke and ash and people ran away from it and it was therefore designed to evoke images of 9/11? I really don't buy it.
Comment By: Jim C, 15 Feb 2010, Rating: 0/5

I am not speaking symbolically, I mean literally. The tree fell, there was a giant dust storm, the masses of hysterical people, the burning pieces raining down. I could go on.
Comment By: Ted, 15 Feb 2010, Rating: 5/5

In what way was the tree scene supposed to evoke 9/11? The world trade centre was a symbol of capitalism, more connected to the humans than the alien hippy tree. Seems that these days any time something big blows up in a film it's always supposed to be about 9/11. Bollocks!
Comment By: Jim C, 15 Feb 2010, Rating: 0/5

They may have been "explained" in the "plot", but that doesnt stop them from not making sense(Plus, I may have dropped off during these highly tedious moments).Everyone behaves in this film like some sort of giant wasp had laid a parasite into their head and they were all being directed to their own doom.
This all reminds me of the aftermath of Episode 2. Everyone I knew was defending it when it was clearly total crap.
Comment By: Ted, 12 Feb 2010, Rating: 5/5

I am currently lobbying to get the title changed to Dances With Wolves Too.
Comment By: Kevin Costner, 12 Feb 2010, Rating: 5/5

It may be a total wank film, I was just wanting to point out that the plot holes you mentioned did not exist. I thought maybe you weren't paying attention or something as they were all addressed pretty clearly in the plot.
Comment By: Plot holes?, 12 Feb 2010, Rating: 5/5

Who cares? Why isn't anyone mentioning that they totally ripped off the plot to The Last Samurai?!
Comment By: Tom Cruise, 12 Feb 2010, Rating: 5/5

Plot holes.

1. Bullshit. It makes no sense. It is a plot hole.

2 & 3. I am yet to be convinced that a giant corporation or military force would give a fuck about wiping out a native race for a precious commodity. The old WMD excuse could have been wheeled out or the fact that the aliens were planning to invade. It is woolly liberal tripe dreamt up by a man so wrapped up in new technology that he has forgotten how to write a film with any kind of cohesive plot. It was total wank.
Comment By: Ted, 12 Feb 2010, Rating: 5/5

3. The evil corporation guys was persuaded by the more evil military guy to go in mob-handed after seeing wheelchair guys video diary saying the whole thing was pointless. He was then persuaded to give them 1 hour to try to get a peaceful resolution.
Comment By: Plot holes?, 12 Feb 2010, Rating: 5/5

2. At the start of the film the Avatar program is described as being necessary because of the negative PR that would be caused by going in and killing all the aliens - to avoid the clusterfuck of negative press that wiping out the only known alien race would cause.
Comment By: Plot holes?, 12 Feb 2010, Rating: 5/5

1. They tell him about their culture and stuff because their spiritual leader orders it after the 'sign' that the woman thing sees when stuff landed on him. The aliens believe in all that listnening to the earth stuff. In other words, that isn't a plot hole.
Comment By: Plot holes?, 12 Feb 2010, Rating: 5/5

So what part does Christopher Lloyd play?
Comment By: smokey earl, 12 Feb 2010, Rating: 3/5

I guess I'm the only one who hasn't been to see it then. Kind of makes me feel like a werewolf in a world full of vampires.
